BC Coastal Soccer League

End of season recap

As we wrap up the 2018-19 season of play, The BC Coastal Soccer League wishes to provide further updates and distribute timelines leading up to the start of the 2019-20 season.

All club Technical Directors had the opportunity to participate in the BCCSL's Technical Advisory meetings and/or open house this past season. One item that gained board-approval were the recommendations that were shared around team formation and percentages of players at the various levels of play. This is especially important for the U11 and U12 groups where we hope to lessen the impact of lopsided scores due to misplaced teams.

We understand that the weather and related field issues created many lost weekends of play. The league board agreed many months ago to use a points per game (PPG) formula in anticipation of such issues, and while it was implemented for all the Divisional League Championship rounds and for divisions where an uneven number of games would be played, we realize it was a new concept that wasn't used in the previous Metro Selects League. We appreciate your understanding of the reason we had to use PPG, and do appreciate no system is perfect when mother nature wreaks havoc on our schedule.

The league is reviewing all of its rules based on feedback from the districts. We will have a finalized set of rules for the 2019-20 season distributed by early May.

As the BCCSL comes to a close, we wish teams participating in the Coastal Cup a great experience!
